Lizzie Gordon, Horse Whiz
{Part Two}
By Iamfree
Chapter Three
You know the saying 'badness is just goodness in disguise?' Well that was what I was thinking as I went into Mr. Spelled's office on Monday, a week later. He invited me over for 'a conference discussing my horse career' he said. Nervousness was boiling inside me as I went into his office. He was seating along with two other men. I sat down. Mr. Spelled smiled "Hello, Lizzie. This is Mr. Anderson and Mr. Repez. Mr. Anderson is the manager of Real Riding and Mr. Repez is our lawyer." he turned to the two men in suits "This is the girl I have been telling you about, Lizzie Gordon?" He did such a wide smile at me I felt like hiding "Or I should address her as 'the horse pro!'" My cheeks turned so red I was sure they'd catch on fire. I wished with all my heart that Andrea and Jewel could of been with me. We could of looked into each others eyes and sensed our excitement. I took a deep breath. Come on, Lizzie, I thought. This is just a normal conference. Soon this'll be a regular thing.
A regular thing. It echoed through my mind, and I wasn't so sure I liked it.
Mr. Spelled cleared his throat. "So, Lizzie, we're here to discuss your horse, Dawn."
Gulp.
That was the LAST thing I wanted to talk about.
I nodded. Mr. Spelled looked nervously at Mr. Anderson and Mr. Repez "As I have warned you about earlier, it is time to move on." (WARNED?)
He looked straight at me "Before you can began professional riding, you must get a horse that is more experienced with such fantastic young like yourself."
Was this a pep talk?
Mr. Spelled continued "What I mean to say is, it's time to consider getting a new horse."
Mr. Anderson jumped in "We'd like to assure you that Real Riding will buy the horse. Any damages we will be responsible of."
My voice suddenly felt all choked up "I'll-I'll talk it over with my parents." I croaked. Mr. Spelled and Mr. Anderson smiled at each other, but Mr. Remez just looked at me solemnly.
"Thank-you for taking this so seriously." Mr. Spelled said "You have until next week to come back with your answer."
Chapter Four
Four days later, I still hadn't talked
the selling Dawn business with my parents. It seemed to real and frightening. Andrea and Jewel have almost completely stopped talking to me, and the only thing they've ever said to me was yesterday at school when I asked Andrea the question to a math problem at lunch, but Andrea just glared at me and said "Figure it out yourself!" and Jewel said "Yeah!" Even worse, today I got a call from Mr. Spelled and he said "Lizzie, the Brinheart Competition is on tomorrow. I can't think of nobody better to represent Real Riding at the competition but you, Lizzie." I haven't even made more then a gasp when Mr. Spelled said "Good. I'll see you at the competition tomorrow." So that was why two hours later I was out at the stable practicing on Dawn. Sweat fell down my forehead as I practiced on Dawn. We were practicing jumping.
It was the last jump of the day. A big double-oxer that Mr. Spelled said 'you absouletly must jump to perfection.'
"Come on, girl, one last jump." I whispered to Dawn." she answered me with her quick, shallow breaths. I rubbed her neck. I had memorized every wrinkle and spot on it, and I loved it. I clucked Dawn forward and we started for the jump.
In thin air, Dawn seemed to just collapse. I tumbled over her back and Dawn landed on the other side.
"Lizzie!" Mia was running towards me. I scrambled up. I wasn't worried about myself, I was just worried about Dawn. I ran towards her.
"Dawn, sweetie." I whispered, and burst into tears.
"Lizzie, Lizzie, everything is going to be alright." Mia was by my side, her soft hand running over Dawn's stomach. After a minute, Mia sighed which I hoped was relief. "She's alright." Mia said, and I let go of a breath I hadn't realized I've been keeping in. "Besides being exhausted and thirsty, she's seems okay." We
helped Dawn into the barn where we rubbed her down and gave her some hot mash and water.
I went inside Mia's house with her. "Is everything alright?" Mia asked. I sighed "Almost everything." Mia looked at me, concerned "Do you want to talk about it?" I looked away. "No." I went out to the barn where Dawn, you had been snoozing, was now wide awake. I rubbed her face "We can't do it, Dawn," I whispered, tears slowly starting to drip down my face. "No matter how hard we try, we can't do it. We can't enter the competition, we can't even be in Real Ridings premier show. It isn't our type of riding, it isn't us. I can't live without you, and you can't live without me. If we aren't able to ride together in Real Riding, then we can just ride here." I straightened up. "And more then anything, we need to quiet Real Riding."
Chapter Five
"GO LIZZIE!" Courtney said to me the next day while we were on our way to the competition. She didn't want me to win, she was encouraging me to face Mr. Spelled. We were going to the competition without Dawn, she needed to rest. We pulled into the parking lot.
"Lizzie?" My dad asked "DO you want me to go with you?" I shook my head. "No. I started this, and I want to end this." I confidently went to the arena, where the jumping was soon to began. AA minute later, my name was called "Now Ms. Elizabeth Gordon on Dawn." I walked out to the arena by myself. I walked up to the microphone.
The butterflies came.
"Er, um...." I said in the microphone "My horse, Dawn, recently got hurt last night and she needs her rest. I'm sorry but I'm going to have to drop out of the competition." I walked out of the competition. Mr. Spelled was smiling at me nervously "Charming, Lizzie, really charming....but, this is serious." I sighed "Mr. Spelled, my horse is sick, and she is staying at home. She is NOT competing." I said forcefully. Mr. Spelled was storming "This is an outrage!" he shouted "You could of gotten a different horse to ride!" Mr. Anderson came up "You're going to have to get a knew horse SOON." he urged. I frowned "There is no other horse I'm ever going to ride as long as Dawn's alive but Dawn herself. Being more professional will make no difference. And furthermore, I want to drop out of Real Riding." Mr. Spelled was steaming "If you hadn't of quiet, I would of fired you!" he shouted. Suddenly a forceful voice came from behind me "No is her answer." said Mr. Remez in his Spanish accent "and if she says that, she likely means that." Mr. Spelled looked at Mr. Remez angrily "You are fired!" he shouted at me.
I left.
***
Oh, well. What's done is done. I may never be able to get a chance to star in a horse TV show, but I'd still keep my horse whom I love, I'd get my best friends back, and I'd get my life back.
Anyway, why couldn't I, Lizzie Gordon, be a horse whiz right here?

Insults, insults, insults. Was that all that came out of that girls' mouth? All the other girls just laughed. Usually I just ignored her, but I had reached my boiling point.
"Stop talking about yourself Chloe." I told her sharply.
She immediately went quiet. I thought about what I had said. All those insults, they are a perfect explanation of herself. Her bottom lip wobbled and she looked like she would cry. 'sheesh!' I thought 'how do you think I feel?' She kept going with insults, which actually were starting to get to me.
******************************************************************
The bell rang and I saw mums' car waiting for me. When I got home I threw on Waves' tack and we set out on the bridle path. I thought about Chloe and her little 'gang' I felt anger bubbling up inside and I pressed Wave into a gallop. We soon reached my secret cross-country course and we cantered up to the log. Wave cleared it beautifully and we came up to the little stream. I felt a rush of happiness and joy as I thought of all the days we would be doing this. We came up to the fallen tree, but without my concentration, Wave jumped awkwardly, and had a funny landing. I saw something run across the path- a hare? I wasnt sure, because I hit the ground hard with a THUMP.

Mia's story chapter two: Never again
By jannah rose
A couple months later I had gotten better at riding
and I had grown to LOVE horses but something very bad happened I remember it perfectly
it was the afternoon when we were getting the horses from the pasture to go for a ride
all of a sudden we heard a loud shrieking neigh
coming from the far pasture Julie's horse
Molly came trotting up to the fence the chesnut mare looked over the fence there was a horse
lying next to it Julie opened the fence I ran in
it was Lacie she had jumped the electric fence
and had burned her leg the burn left a deep cut
I knealt down beside her " I'm going to call the vet" Julie ran as fast as she could to the house
I stayed with Lacie I stroked her the horse nickered weakly the vet came quickly " there is nothing I can do she won't make it" I cried I would miss her dearly a couple days later in the morning Julie woke me up " wha- time is it "
" three a-m Molly had her foal" she said happily
" wow already" I leaped out of bed and threw on my boots and ran out to see the foal it was the first time I smiled since Lacie died the foal was a small palomino colt " he's yours" Julie said " to replace lacie" I smiled happily I hugged the foal

It's You

Lucy Rowland and Amigo cantered to the final jump on the jumping course. Lucy was working on show jumping with the school horse. Lucy counted down the strides in her head. "Three, two, one, and up!" Lucy said in her head. On up, the dazzling paint horse lifted himself out of the air, tucked in his front legs, and propelled over the 3-foot vertical. Lucy transitioned into jumping position and grasped his spiky black mane. Amigo landed smoothly and let out a snort. Lucy tugged back on the reins and slowed him to a walk. The paint was dripping with sweat. He had worked hard.
"Good boy!" Lucy whispered to him. He moved his big ears forward and perked up his head. Amigo loved to be praised.
"You're a wonderful jumper, Amigo. I wish you were mine." Lucy let her sentence trail and let out a long sigh. "We should get back. Let's go." Lucy pulled on the reins and turned him around. She squeezed his sides and the horse and rider started to walk out of the white fenced arena. Lucy smoothed out her blue stable jacket and flicked a piece of dirt off of her breeches. Her face was hot and there were smudges of dirt and sweat on her face. Lucy's beautiful golden strawberry hair was in a low ponytail. As they entered the stable, Lucy dismounted him and clipped off her black helmet. She led Amigo to an empty set of crossties and started to untack him. She finally got all the dirt and sweat out of his black and white coat. Lucy unclipped him and led him down the aisle to his stall. She slid open the stall door and slipped off his halter. "Bye boy. You did amazing today." Lucy slipped an apple flavored horse treat out of her pocket and gave it to Amigo. He snatched it quickly and went to the back of his stall. Lucy let out a small giggle and she walked out and shut the gate. Just as she was about to walk home, she heard a loud horse whinny. Lucy spun around and saw a light blue horse trailer. Two men opened the door and led out the most gorgeous horse Lucy had ever laid her eyes on. The mare was an amazing strawberry roan with a sleek body and shiny mane and tail. Lucy's mouth formed an "o". The men were yelling at the mare as she quivered and bucked. Lucy's heart ached. The horse looked so helpless, Lucy had to help her. She snapped out of her gaze on the beautiful equine and rushed over. The two men looked at her with disgust.
"Um, hi." she said. "I was wondering, where did that mare come from?"
"She was abandoned." said one short man with shaved black hair. "She came from the old farm over on Willberry Road. We found her in the barn, cold and hungry."
Lucy looked at the mare again. She was sleek, skinny, you could almost see her ribs. Lucy sniffed.
"Is she for sale?" she blurted out.
"I do not know. This stable might use her as a school horse. The owner told us to bring her here."
Lucy had a puzzled look on her face. She wanted that horse so bad, but she didn't think her parents would let her, and what about Amigo? What if Mr. Thomas, the owner, wanted to use her as a school horse? Lucy shrugged and left to go home.
The next day, Lucy put on her riding clothes and left to the stable early in the morning. She walked in the stable and saw the beautiful mare she had seen yesterday in a stall with a nameplate that said "CHARLOTTE".
"Hmm, Charlotte. What a pretty name!" she whispered softly to her. The mare looked up nervously and skidded to the back of her stall. Lucy frowned and held out her hand.
"It's okay, don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."
She pulled out a horse cookie from her pocket. Lucy always carried horse cookies with her. Charlotte sniffed her and eyed the cookie. She took small steps closer to Lucy. She finally got close enough and took the horse cookie from Lucy's hand. Up close, Charlotte was even prettier. She had blue oceany eyes and a delicate, dainty face. Lucy was in awe of her beauty. The mare stuck out her head and sniffed Lucy. She nudged her. Lucy smiled and stroked her smooth face. At that moment, Lucy knew that was her horse. She knew all these 12 years of waiting for the perfect horse was for this. She scooted backwards and started to run to Mr. Thomas's office. She smiled widely as she jogged. She needed that horse. Lucy burst through the door and Mr. Thomas looked up from his laptop.
"Can I help you Miss Rowland?" Mr Thomas said. He was a buff man, normal sized, with a green jacket, thick tan breeches, and black boots. He had blond/brown hair and green eyes.
"Um yes. That new horse Charlotte, is she for sale? She's beautiful and I was with her this morning. She's as cute as a button and I really think we have something together."
Mr. Thomas frowned. He looked around and tapped his fingers againest his desk. He finally looked up and glanced at Lucy. Then he grinned a little.
"I was going to use her for a school horse, but by what you just said, I think I will change my mind. I will sell her to you for..." his sentence trailed. Lucy smiled, flashing her pearly teeth. Her dream was finally coming true! Lucy was exploding with happiness inside. Mr. Thomas finally looked up at her.
"500 dollars. I don't want to make it too much. I think you deserve this Lucy, I really do. Ask your parents and come back today, and you can have your first ride. Sound like a deal?"
Lucy couldn't believe what she was hearing. 500 dollars! That was so cheap for a perfect horse like Charlotte.
"Y-yes." Lucy stammered. "A v-very good d-d-deal." Mr. Thomas laughed and Lucy started back to the stable. She ran to Charlotte's stall. "Charlotte! You will be mine!" Charlotte turned toward Lucy and nickered softly. Lucy giggled and started to run home. She explained to Mr. and Mrs. Rowland, and they knew how much she wanted a horse. They discussed it for a while and they finally agreed. They followed Lucy to the stable and filled in the paperwork. Lucy ran over to Charlotte and picked up her pink and green halter. She led her over to crossties and started to stroke her. Lucy picked out a pink roma saddle pad to use. It looked perfect on Charlotte.
"Your mine now, honey." she whispered to her. Charlotte batted her pretty eyes and looked happy. Lucy clipped on her helmet and mounted her. She led her over the the meadow outside of the stable. Lucy and Charlotte worked together beautifully. There was no doubt Lucy and Charlotte were perfect for each other.

The Color People
By Sugar1Loaf2
Chapter 1 The Black House
Mr.Blackmen lives in the black house everything was black the carpet, furniture, the tile floors, everything in the kitchen including, plates, cups, forks, knives, bowls, spoons, and even the sink, fridge, dishwasher, and at last the stove were all black. Those were just some of the things that were black. There were custom made black light bulbs, spray painted black windows, walls, the ceiling, beds, dressers, pictures and anything else that would be in a house was black. The outside of the house was black too. He also spray painted his grass black he had a black fence also.
Mr.Blackmen wore black clothes and everything in his office at work was black. When he ate food he had to buy only meat and then overcook it so it would be black, because with Mr.Blackmen everything in his house has to be black. That’s why he didn’t have many people come visit because they don’t wear black. Mr.Blackmen wanted to have people over he just couldn’t though. All his friends were like him just they liked different colors.
Mr.Blackmen didn’t go to the store often only when he needed more meat because he really had everything he needed.
Chapter 2 | The Green House
Mr.Evergreen lives at the green house, he is two doors down from Mr.Blackmen. Mr.Blackmen and Mr.Evergreen know each other, but they didn’t see each other much. Every once in a while they would see each other at a restaurant, but not often.
Inside Mr.Evergreen’s house he had many plants in green pots. Like Mr.Blackmen everything in his house was one color, but Mr.Evergreen’s color was green. He loved plants, leaves, and grass.
Mr.Evergreen loves green vegetables too. One day Mr.Blackmen decided to call Mr.Evergreen. They talked for a little while and decided to go to a restaurant together. At the restaurant Mr.Blackmen ordered a very well done steak (a very well done steak means it’s cooked to where it’s almost burnt) and Mr. Evergreen ordered a vegetable delicacy. It was made with broccoli, cucumber, pickles, green beans, lettuce, spinach, and some other green vegetables. Mr. Blackmen asked “Mr. Evergreen what is you favorite color?†“Green†said Mr.Evergreen. Mr.Evergreen asked, “What is your favorite color?†“Black†said Mr.Blackmen. “Oh yeah†said Mr.Evergreen “that’s right, sorry I forgotâ€. “Well I better get going†said Mr.Evergreen “I have to water my plants at home. I haven’t watered them in a whileâ€. “I better be going too†said Mr.Blackmen. “Goodbye Mr.Blackmen†said Mr.Evergreen.
And so they both left.
Chapter 3| The Purple House
Ms.Lilac lives at the purple house. She has lilacs all over her house. She just loves lilacs. Here are some of the purple foods that Ms.Lilac eats; there is eggplant, purple cabbage, purple asparagus, purple onions, purple grapes, and raisins.
Again like Mr.Blackmen and Mr.Evergreen everything in her house is the same color and this time the color is purple. Ms.Lilac lives down and across the street a little ways from Mr.Blackmen and Mr.Evergreen. Ms.Lilac knows Mr.Blackmen and Mr.Evergreen very well. She knows their favorite color and their favorite food and where they live. Ms.Lilac helped water Mr.Evergreen’s plants for him a couple times a while ago, but today she decided to go to Mr.Evergreen’s house to pay him a visit.
She got her shoes on and walked to Mr.Evergreen’s house. She knocked on the door and Mr.Evergreen answered and right away he said, “Oh sorry I already watered my plants today.†Ms.Lilac said “oh okay then I will just go home.†“No don’t go Ms.Lilac have some green tea.†“No thank you I have to go I am going to make dinner. Bye Mr.Evergreen.†“Good bye Ms.Lilac. So Ms.Lilac walked back home and started dinner.
Chapter 4| The Red House
Mr.Reddmen lives at the red house. He lives even further away from Mr.Blackmen. Mr.Reddmen lives next door to Ms.Lilac. Mr.Reddmen knows Ms.Lilac very well. Sometimes he will go over to her house and water her lilac bushes when she goes to Mr.Evergreen’s house. Mr.Reddmen’s house is all red of course. These are the foods he likes; red peppers, red hot jalapenos, hot sauce, salsa, apples, tomatoes, tomato soup, tomato juice, ketchup, and a couple other red things. He will eat water melon, but not often. Mr.Evergreen, Mr.Blackmen, and Mr.Reddmen would share a water melon. Mr.Evergreen would buy the melon, cut off the rind and give the rest to Mr.Reddmen. They would give Mr.Blackmen the black seeds of course. So they would all share the watermelon except for Ms.Lilac. Because there is nothing purple in a watermelon.
Mr.Reddmen was invited to a restaurant with Mr.Blackmen, Mr.Evergreen, and Ms.Lilac. At the restaurant the waitress came up and said, “May I take your order?†“Yes you may. I will have a very very well done steak please.â€, said Mr.Blackmen. Mr.Evergreen ordered the same thing that he did last time, a green vegetable delicacy. Ms.Lilac ordered a purple salad. It had all the things she likes that are purple. At last Mr.Reddmen ordered and he got a very spicy red salad. They ate their food and then finally Ms.Lilac said that she had to go. Then everybody else left soon after that.
Chapter 5| The Yellow House
Ms.Sunshine lived at the yellow house. She liked bananas, yellow cheese, egg yolks, yellow peppers, lemons, certain kinds of squash, pineapples, corn, yellow onion, and just a couple more things. Ms.Sunshine lives on the other side of the street. She lives furthest away from Mr.Reddmen and Ms.Lilac.
Ms.Sunshine just moved to this neighborhood because she wasn’t allowed to live at the apartments because everything she had was yellow. Ms.Lilac went over to her house and brought her yellow frosted cookies. She made them in her dark basement so she didn’t get any yellow frosting on anything. She walked down the street to Ms.Sunshine’s house. Ms.Lilac knocked on the door. As Ms.Sunshine opened the door, Ms.Lilac said ,“Hi my name is Ms.Lilac. I live down the street from you. I brought some cookies.†“Oh thank you Ms.Lilac. My name is Ms.Sunshine. †Soon Mr.Evergreen had the same idea Ms.Lilac had. He walked down to Ms.Sunshine’s house to welcome her to the neighborhood as well. “Hello Ms.Lilac†said Mr.Evergreen. I see you have met our new neighbor.†“Yes I have. This is Ms.Sunshineâ€, said Ms.Lilac. “Hello Ms.Sunshine. I am Mr.Evergreen. I live in that green house down there.†He said as he pointed to his house. Mr.Blackmen lives in the black house and Ms.Lilac lives next to Mr.Reddmen who lives in the red houseâ€. “Oh how nice. You seem a lot like me you all like one color and everything in your house is the same color. Right? †said Ms.Sunshine. “Yes you are right.†said Ms.Lilac. “Would you mind if we introduced you to Mr.Blackmen and Mr.Reddmen?†“Sureâ€, said Ms.Sunshine.
Soon Ms.Sunshine, Mr.Evergreen, and Ms.Lilac went to Mr.Blackmen’s house first because his house was the closest from Ms.Sunshine’s house. They arrived at Mr.Blackmen’s house and knocked on his door. Mr.Blackmen opened his door and said “Hello Mr.Evergreen and Ms.Lilac. How nice to see you. Who is this that you brought with you?†Ms.Sunshine said, “Hi my name is Ms.Sunshine. I heard you are Mr.Blackmen.†“Yes I am Mr.Blackmen. Won’t you come in?†They all walked in and talked for a little while and then went to Mr.Reddmen’s house with Mr.Blackmen too. Mr.Reddmen was introduced to Ms.Sunshine. He was pleased to meet her. They all were friends for a very long time.
