Equine Dance

Spring time dew glistens on the grass,
catching the light like fragments of glass.
A warm breeze toys with my hair,
as I canter along on my beautiful mare.
Together our breathing becomes one,
as we ride under the early morning sun.
She and I are together in pace,
and a smile of joy spreads on my face.
I gather the reins and entwine my fingers in her hair,
gearing us up for the flight in the air.
Nearing the jump I breath in deep,
shifting my weight deep into my feet.
The sand swirls as we take off from the ground,
and I feel as though im flying, never coming down.
But just as always she brings us back,
and I settle myself back into the tack.
The jump was perfect, graceful like a dance,
and we take off in a final prance.
Once more around the ring on her hoofed feet,
and we’ll go back to the barn to give her a treat.
My mare is one spectacular sight,
if only I could ride her all day and night.
But I’ll have to settle for the moment of triumph.
that we both experience whenever we jump.
