'Ahhh....' Frosty sighed. Christmas was over and it was back to the normal beginner riders he was stuck with. Frosty, a chubby grey gelding, lived at Apple Tree Stables. He was only 12 Hands High, so as usual, he had all the small riders... How he wished he could just, one day, jump. Maybe even over a small cross pole..
His thoughts were awakened as a clinking sound from his stable door was made, and in came one of the Stable Hands. She was carrying Tack. Frosty whinnied grumpily and searched for the lead rein amounst all the saftey parts of his regular brown tack. How Frosty wished he could have the advanced tack the Toby had, his pasture mate. Toby is a X-Racehorse, and hes always being entered into shows, always going fast. Suddenly, as his saddle was lifted onto his back, he felt a difference. His heart skipped a beat, no safety stirrups? Wait? he thought, its a Jumping saddle? No, it can't be. Frosty's heart nearly came out past the bit as he was lead out. Why did he have no lead rein? Why did he not have a neckstrap?
'Here you are' Said the person leading Frosty. A small girl wearing pearly white Jodphurs and a pink checkered body protector. Could this be...?
As the girl mounted on him, he felt a difference, she as good, her head was high, her heels were down, as they trotted she was rising beautifully, even on the right diagonal. Plus, there was no lead rein person? As they trotted round one corner, his rider went into sitting trot and nudged him lightly. He broke into canter. It was amazing, it had been years and years ago when Frosty last cantred in an arena.
At the end of the ride, the stable owner was talking to Frosties rider and her mum. Then suddenly the girl whooped with joy.
'Your mine' She said.
*******
Years later Frosty was still loving life, every single moment of it from the day the girl and her mum had bought him. He had cantered more, even jumped really high! He had gone to many shows and had a great life. But Frosty was old now, and now lived in retirement with his pasture mate Domino, the small shetland pony.
The end ;) xx

When Mrs.Daple had brought her in the stable and tacked her up,tying her to the small brass ring in the stall. She turned her head to Sugar, a grumpy old Shetland pony "Why is that strange woman looking at me?"She was 3 and didn't know much. Sugar looked at her and replied "Sell'n ya." Stormy's eyes widened. "No she is not. Your pulling my tail." Sugar rolled her eyes and went back to sleep.

Chapter 2
The strange woman and Mrs.Daple stood in front of Stormy's stall door. "Stormy, this is Seanna. She may bring you home.So please be on your best behavour." Mrs.Daple said with a hopefull smile. A young girl, around 13, smiled and said "Thoroghbred right?" She had blond hair and light blue eyes. She smiled at Stormy "Well lets go!" She untied Stormy and led her to the indoor ring. When they got to the mounting block, the girl went to the front of Stormy. "Hello, I'm Ashley." She giggled. " My little sister Rainy told me to say Hi. Shall we ride?" She went back to her side. When she mounted up, something felt different. Stormy gasped, "A jumping saddle!"

Dominique was an ugly horse with a roman nose, a tail that had needed to be amputated when he was born and one blind eye that had been poked out in an accident. Yes, Dominique was an ugly horse. He admitted it. But one day, he was shown otherwise.
Dominique(though around the barn he was called Dummy)sat, and literally SAT, dog fashion, in his stall with his head drooping. As usual, there people everywhere looking at horses to buy or sell. This was his fourth auction and at each one he went "No Deal" or, unsold. there was very little hope that he would be sold at this one. Then suddenly his hopes rose to new heights and then came down just as suddenly when a big built man ask for Dominique to be brought out but then shake his head and say "not much meat on him". The hours dragged by, and then, near the time when the horses were to be led out to the auction ring, a pretty woman stopped at his stall and looked inside before saying "not much for his looks but...." Dominique so wanted her to continue, but now he was being led out to the ring. Would the woman buy him? Or would his soaring hope crash land in in a bottomless pit?
As Dominique was led around the auction ring, he was as nervous as a mouse trying to walk past a sleeping cat. He craned his head looking for the woman who had come to his stall. The auctioneer was trying to get the bid to start at one thousand dollars but, when no one put in a bid, he slid it down to three hundred. Then the man who had looked at him earlier raised three fingers. Then the pretty woman shouted "Five hundred dollars". the bidding stopped there and the auctioneer shouted "SOlD! To the lovely young lady over there."
Dominique was sold! His old owner would have been grateful for just one hundred!
Later, in his stall, the woman came to take him away. She stopped to look into his eyes, not his body, to see if she had done the right thing.
"Dominique. Such a beautiful name. But not near as beautiful as you yourself. I see a good heart in you," she said, gently stroking his chestnut coat. Dominique was puzzled. This woman had called him beautiful? The next thing he knows, Dominique was in a roomy trailer with a full hay net and water bucket attached to the wall. He wasn't hungry right then, so he lay down and went to sleep.
*****
Dominique's new stall was big and roomy. Roomier than any other he had been stabled. His new owner, who's name, he had learned was Amy, right away brushed him 'til his chestnut coat shone like the sun. While she was grooming him, she said "You may not look beautiful on the outside, but to me, whats on the inside is more important than any other trait. You, my friend have one of the most beautiful hearts a horse can have."
Inside is what matters most? Dominique thought. He finally understood that, it doesn't matter how ugly you are, what really matters is whats on the inside. In your heart. Thats a lesson Dominique learned.

Best Pet Contest
*It's finally time!* exclaimed Sally, who is an 11 year old girl that loves horse's, to her horse Snow White. Yes it was finally time for the school's Best Pet contest.
Sally was at her school with Snow White by her waiting for her name to be called out, which was very hard because she and Snow White had been waiting for this all Term.
The contest is judged on 3 things;
1#Talent
2#Beauty
3#Companionship
Also, the pet show had some rules.
1#Only cats, dogs, horses, birds or rabbits could be entered
2#NO CHEATING
3#Only positive remarks may be said to other contestants
Not surprisingly Erik had already broken all of those rules. Erik is the kind of boy who does naughty things just to get attention. Obviously he usually gets a detention rather than attention, but that doesn't stop him trying.
Already today he has entered his pet rat, "accidentally" opened Jenny's pet bird cage and let her parrot Polly out and he made fun of Snow White's tail which had taken me hours to braid.I had had just about enough of Erik.
Finally, we our called up. I take a deep breath and trot out onto the arena checking my diagonals as I go. When we reach the centre of the arena I am ready to go. My diagonals are perfect and I am more relaxed.
We start with a canter around the arena to warm up. Then we do some jumps on the course set up for us. We conclude by a trot around the arena with no reins and then as Snow White trots I slowly stand up on her to show that I completely trust Snow White. The audience gasp and then breaks into applause. I then mount and bow and Snow White bows too. The audience laughs and so do I.
Finally It is time to announce the winners, 3rd place goes to Maggie and her pet dog Max, 2nd place goes to Me and Snow White and 1st place goes to...... Erik and his pet rat Monty! I am very surprised at this!!! It turns out that the judges allowed Monty to enter as he had an amazing talent, he acted exactly the same as Erik. ( in other words he didn't do anything Erik asked him to do but did the tricks he wanted to do!)
I was very proud of Snow White and myself so as a treat I gave her 3 sugar cubes and dad took me out for ice-cream too! To tell you the truth I don't need a contest to tell me Snow White is the Best Bet ever. I already know she is.
