Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Wiggins? And where is Crandal Stables?

Wiggins is a tiny rural town in southern Vermont, so it rarely appears on state, regional or national maps. Crandal Stables is just north of town, about a mile from Main Street. For reference, a map of Wiggins is attached below.

Is this site meant for just "locals" and if so, local to where?

Despite the fact Wiggins is so small, it has a print newspaper called the Wiggins Gazette that covers local "hard" news events. The horse-oriented electronic newspaper Wiggins Weekly was started in the Summer of 2007 to cover equine and human interest events in Wiggins, to keep readers in touch with some of the main characters in Jeanne Betancourt's Pony Pals books and to provide ongoing updates about the new virtual riding lessons and experiences that are planned for this site. This is the only authorized Pony Pals website based on Jeanne Betancourt's books.

What is your tie-in with Jeanne Betancourt and her books?

The WebMaster of this site arranged with the publisher of Jeanne Betancourt's books, Scholastic, Inc. for exclusive permission to do things relating to the Pony Pals books, like create this site, develop planned virtual riding lessons and eventually even offer fans of the books things like Pony Pals films, television shows, toys and cards.

Does this cost money?

No, signing up at Club Pony Pals does not cost money. When you email the WebMaster she will add you to an emailing list and send you a note. You will also get an email whenever there's a new e-newspaper issue available so you can read it for free. ClubPonyPals will not share your email address with anyone else.

Does the Wiggins Weekly cost money?

The e-newsletter is free.

Do you want stories, cartoons or horse drawings for the e-newspaper?

Yes, as long as they are horse, pony or Pony Pals related.

Is the Virtual Riding Lesson free?

It will be. We have to create it but we plan to offer up to four lessons a day for free. After you pass a riding test you will be allowed out on trail, too.
